Chernobyl

On 26 April 1986 Reactor 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded scattering radioactive material across a wide area. This is a dramatic photo essay of the effects of this disaster twenty years on. Caution, this is not comfortable viewing (sound required).

wow that is horrific. At first I thought that the children might be mentally disabled from being in the orphanage itself in a similar way to those in the old footage of Romania and to be honest that may well be the cause of some of the problems. I didn't realise that children were still being born with such horrific deformities.
